CHS Student Receives Recognition at Murray State

Hannah Furniss from Collierville High School recently received the Certificate of Recognition from the Commonwealth Honors Academy held in June 2015 at Murray State University. Hannah and 116 other students completed the three-week Academy at Murray State between June 6th and June 27th, 2015.

Knowledge Bowl Team Wins WREG Tourney Opener

Congratulations to the Collierville Knowledge Bowl Team. The Dragons won their 1st Round match against Germantown Monday night in the WREG Knowledge Bowl tournament. The team consists of Evan Craft, Joey He, Luigi Siligato, Priyal Pathak, and Katie Tucker. The match will air on Channel 3 on Saturday, January 9 at 9:00 AM.

Collierville Wins TSSAA Sportsmanship Award

Congratulations to the Collierville High School athletic department. CHS won the A.F. Bridges award for the 2014-2015 sports year. This is the highest award that can be bestowed upon a school's athletic program to honor its overall efforts to promote citizenship and sportsmanship at school, and at athletic contests.

Knowledge Bowl Team Takes Title at CBHS Tournament

Congratulations to the Collierville Knowledge Bowl Team. The Dragons ‘A’ Team brought home 1st place in the 24-team CBHS Quiz Bowl Tournament by beating the MUS ‘A’ Team. Team members consisted of Evan Craft, Joey He, Luigi Siligato, Priyal Pathak, and Katie Tucker. The team is led by Mr. Craig Collier.

The Tennessee State Board of Education has released their newly revised standards for math and English language arts for grades K-12. Input is requested from parents, educators, and other community members. Please click on the link to see the press release for details.

Tennessee Governor’s School Applications Available

Tennessee provides 12 summer programs for gifted and talented high school students. Students in the tenth and eleventh grades who would like to participate in a challenging and high-intensity program in one of the twelve areas are encouraged to apply.

CHS places 18 on All-Southwest Tennessee Choir

CHS had 34 students who auditioned individually for the West TN Regional Senior Honor Choir. Eighteen earned a spot. This is the largest group of CHS students to make the choir since 2001. Click on the link to see those participating in the event in late November.

Orchestra duo named to All-National Honor Ensembles

Congratulations to Angel Tally and Diego Martinez for their selection to the 2015 All-National Honor Ensembles, a prestigious honor ensemble and program of the National Association for Music Education. This year 673 vocal and instrumental students from 49 states and territories were accepted - only 11 from Tennessee.
