Course Description

AP U.S. History is designed to be the equivalent of a two-semester introductory college or university U.S. history course. In AP U.S. History students investigate significant events, individuals, developments, and processes in nine historical periods from approximately 1491 to the present. Students develop and use the same skills, practices, and methods employed by historians: analyzing primary and secondary sources; making historical comparisons; utilizing reasoning about contextualization, causation, and continuity and change over time; and developing historical arguments. The course also provides seven themes that students explore throughout the course in order to make connections among historical developments in different times and places: American and national identity; migration and settlement; politics and power; work, exchange, and technology; America in the world; geography and the environment; and culture and society. After School Review

I will be staying after school this week (until 2:30) on Wednesday and Thursday to offer APUSH review.

Note to Parents

The following note is from Dr. Charbonnet, the Vice Principal at CHS:

Parents of Eleventh Graders,

The time has come; soon you will have a high school senior!

We know that senior year and the college application process can be overwhelming and confusing at times.

Collierville High School’s counseling staff would like to invite you to an informational meeting on May 1st at 7:15am. Due to limited parking at the high school, this meeting will take place at Collierville First Baptist Church in the sanctuary.

We will discuss the timeline of events for the senior year, the college application process, how to get letters of recommendation, and answer any questions that you may have.

This is an exciting time in your child’s life, and we look forward to working with the Class of 2019 in their preparation for the next step!

Go Dragons!
