Intro to Film History

Course Description

This course is an introduction to the history of film.  The class will be built on a timeline of films deemed significant for their influence on later work and their representation of their time period and genre.  Surrounding the viewing of these films, classes will investigate how each film represents its particular time period.  Students will learn a basic linear history of film.   Students will be able to identify significant technological advances in film making.  Students will be able to evaluate films for literary qualities.  Students will be familiar with common terms used in the creation and evaluation of films.
