Tell us about your internship in New York.

I worked for New York Life Investments, a sister company of New York Life Insurance, in their digital marketing department. I learned all about corporate marketing, online including social media best practices, how to set up digital advertisements and much more.

You are making the most of your time at the University of Alabama. What is Alice Magazine?  What is your role?

I work on the University of Alabama's campus with a magazine called Alice Magazine. This is a magazine for college women by college women. I run the digital department that consists of a web editor and web team, a social media editor and a social media team, as well as a new team that creates YouTube videos for the magazine. My main job is to keep the digital department up and running while communicating with the editor-in-chief of the magazine. Everyone should check it out here, https://alice.ua.edu/

What other things you have been a part of while at college?

I am the Media Director of UA's student-run integrated-communications firm,Capstone Agency. We were ranked the top student-run firm in the nation in 2016 and 2018. We are hoping for another top placement in 2020! As media director, I lead all media coordinators in the agency and approve all client work leaving my department. It has been such a great way to learn how to lead.
Also, I have been a college ambassador for the College of Communication and Information Sciences since my freshman year. This year I was elected President of this organization.

I work closely with a program called Sustained Dialogue where, as student moderators, we get to engage in dialogue about difficult topics such as race, religion, politics and sexuality with diverse groups. It has really opened my eyes, and I now have more knowledge about how to respectfully talk about my views and to accept others.

What are your plans after graduation?

My goal is to work for an agency or organization in New York City in the field of communications.

Any CHS teacher who made an impact on you'd like to recognize?

If I could recognize every teacher I had in school, I would. If I had to thank a few, I would like to recognize Mr. Moore for always encouraging his students to find their passion and Ms. Cozzens for showing me the amazing pastime of the Handmaid's Tale which has become an obsession of mine, both books and Hulu series. Also, I would like to recognize the entire guidance office for all of the help and encouragement they gave me through the years.
