CHS STEM students participating in National Youth Cyber Defense Competition

Collierville High School STEM students are participating in the US Airforce Association’s CyberPatriot National Youth Cyber Defense Competition. Collierville has entered 3 teams into the competition, one of which is an all-girl team.  Shelli Brasher, CHS’s STEM teacher, serves as their coach. Team Captains are Diego Scott-McCabe, Blake Peterson, and Lekha Vuppalapati. The teams are sponsored by the Mid-South Association of Contingency Planners.

During the competition rounds, students are required to recognize intrusions to their operating systems or networks and respond appropriately to protect their systems and data files from unauthorized sources. This is the first year for Collierville to have a CyberPatriot team.  After the first 2 rounds of competition, all 3 Collierville Teams advanced to the Gold Tier.  State rounds concluded Sunday, Dec. 7.  Official results are pending, but preliminary results showed Collierville in the lead.
