Overall, my trip to Colombia was truly life-changing. By living with a Colombian host family I was able to grasp an understanding of the culture that no tourist could see. From all of the food to the scenery, everything was breathtaking. Spending time high up in the Andes, I was able to shop in a small Colombian village, look down over Bogotá from the highest peak in the city, and hike to the lagoon where the legend of El Dorado took place. I was able to experience daily Colombian life and school, practice Spanish, and bond with my host family every day. My experience in Colombia with Memphis in May was one that I will remember for the rest of my life and I cannot wait to return.
