It’s Early Postsecondary Opportunities Week in Tennessee! Each day this week, we will highlight a different early postsecondary opportunity available to students in Collierville Schools.
What are Early Postsecondary Opportunities?
Early Postsecondary Opportunities allow students to:
Earn college credits while still in high school
Become familiar with college expectations
Develop confidence and skills for success in college
Make informed college and career decisions
Decrease the time and cost of completing a certificate, diploma, or degree
Today’s highlighted early postsecondary opportunities are Dual Enrollment courses.
A Dual Enrollment course is a college course taught either on a college campus, at a high school, or online. These courses are taught by college professors or high school teachers who meet the requirements to teach a college-level course. Students who take a Dual Enrollment course are enrolled in college and earn college credit upon successful completion of the course. Once completed, the credit is put on the college transcript and can be transferred to other colleges and universities.
