It’s Early Postsecondary Opportunities Week in Tennessee! Each day this week, we will highlight a different early postsecondary opportunity available to students in Collierville Schools.
What are Early Postsecondary Opportunities?
Early Postsecondary Opportunities allow students to:
Earn college credits while still in high school
Become familiar with college expectations
Develop confidence and skills for success in college
Make informed college and career decisions
Decrease the time and cost of completing a certificate, diploma, or degree
Today’s highlighted early postsecondary opportunities are Industry Certifications.
Industry Certifications are earned through both high school and college career and technical education (CTE) courses. High school students are encouraged to focus their elective credits on career-aligned learning pathways that culminate with earning a nationally recognized industry certification. Each certification is aligned to college and career opportunities and with skills that students should have acquired through their chosen program of study. Students are required to pass an exam to earn an industry certification. Some colleges and universities award college credit for earning certifications. Check with Admissions at the college or university of your choice to determine if they award credit for industry certifications.
