Catching Up With CHS Alumni: Jessica Lopez ('12)

Jessica Lopez, a 2012 graduate of Collierville High, went on to get her Bachelor’s of Science in Molecular Biology and Master’s of Science in Molecular Biology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She worked in the UAB athletic department with multiple sports. She is now working as the Science Learning Specialist for student athletes in the athletic department at the University of Oregon in the PAC12.

A main focus of CHSAA is awarding scholarships to CHS seniors. This year $35,000 was given to 31 graduates. Attached is an example of numerous notes of gratitude that show how these scholarships impact the future of our students. Zack Cozart (2004) Named National League All-Star Starting Shortstop

Cincinnati Reds shortstop and former Collierville Dragon standout, Zack Cozart, is off to the best start of his Major League Career. Cozart leads NL shortstops in hitting, slugging, On Base Percentage, hits, extra base hits and triples; and is second in doubles and tied for second in runs batted in. He was recently voted by the fans as the National League starting shortstop.

Geri Smith (2009) Helping Lead New CHS Project

Collierville High School graduate, Geritt Smith (2009), is one of the superintendents overseeing the new Collierville High School project. Smith studied at Texas A&M University and studied Civil Engineering. He graduated from Dwight Look College of Engineering in the spring of 2015. Smith has been employed for Linkous Construction Co. since 2012.

CHSAA Awards $35,000 In Scholarships to Class of 2017

The Collierville High School Alumni Association awarded $35,000 in scholarships to the Class of 2017 at the CHS Awards on May 17. Courtney (Bowden) Ellett, a 1993 CHS graduate, is founder and owner of Memphis-based Obsidian Public Relations. As the region’s largest PR agency, Obsidian works with some of the most successful companies and nonprofits in the Mid-South and was named 2013 Small Business of the Year by the Memphis Business Journal.
