Lady Dragons Soccer named #13, crack MaxPreps National Rankings

The Collierville girls' soccer team is ranked 13th in the nation in this week’s MaxPreps Top 25 rankings that were released Tuesday morning.

This is the second time Collierville has appeared in national rankings. Earlier this year the Lady Dragons were listed in USA Today's Top 25.

The Lady Dragons soccer team defeated the defending state champions, Clarksville, on Saturday to advance to this week's AAA State Tournament in Murfreesboro.

Lady Dragons Defeat Defending State Champs, Advance To State Tournament

In girls' soccer sectional action on Saturday, Middle Tennessee State commit Cambell Kivisto scored with 2 minutes to play in overtime to lead the Dragons to victory over Clarksville. The Wildcats are the defending state champions. Fellow MTSU commit Liza Slavinsky added an insurance goal on a penalty kick and the Lady Dragons prevailed the 2-0 win. Murray State commit Emily Samisch recorded another clean sheet. Collierville will open play in the TSSAA AAA State Tournament on Wednesday. Click on the link to see the state tournament bracket.

CHS football coach Mike O'Neill stepping aside to get cancer treatments

Following Friday's thrilling victory over arch-rival Houston, Collierville football coach Mike O'Neill told his team that he is stepping aside for the rest of the season as he begins treatment for an aggressive form of throat cancer. His final game will be Friday against Arlington before turning it over to his staff for the postseason. Collierville is 6-3 with a 2-1 record in Region 7-6A. Collierville Football Wins Again, Defeats Germantown Houston

The Collierville High School Dragons football team continued their winning ways, Friday night, with a 35-33 victory over Germantown Houston. The Dragons scored first on a defensive safety and took control of the game from there. Collierville is now winners of 4 straight and improves to 6-3 on the year. They will host Arlington next Friday at 7pm. The team will recognize their 2017-2018 seniors prior to the game.

Lady Dragons Soccer Drop 2-1 Heartbreaker to Houston

MTSU commit Campbell Kivisto put the Lady Dragons on the board early in the Region Final contest against Houston Thursday night. The Mustangs would tie it at 1-1 before the half. A corner kick late in the second half prevailed the 2-1 victory for Houston. Both teams advance to Saturday's Sectional. Collierville will travel to Clarksville and Houston will host Arlington. Winners advance to state tournament.

Collierville Volleyball Takes 4th At State Tournament

The Collierville Dragons Volleyball team defeated Cleveland Wednesday morning in an elimination match that sent them to the state tournament's final four. After defeating Ravenwood in the first game of the state tournament, the Dragons suffered a 3-0 defeat to the Raptors and concluded their season. Ravenwood would advance to the state title game against Brentwood - which they fell short. Siegel took 3rd place. The Lady Dragons volleyball team finished the year 42-10.
