Welcome to my world. I have been teaching at CHS for 33 years and love my job.
 
The Code image below is to access our payment site- or you can send check (make out to CHS) or cash for the supplies and class fee. Make sure to find Lancaster Art 1 Fee if you are purchasing your own supplies and if not  find Lancaster Art Box to pay for the supples.
 
We will be covering the Art Elements and Principles in this class as well as learning how to produce artwork.

Friday 11-10

  • A club day- 2nd and 3rd thankful weekly due Monday- Assessment on line Tuesday
  • Get project and supplies for day-
  • Make sure you have the following in the painting:

–WASHES- INTENSITY AND COLOR CHANGE

–BACKGROUND-

–RE INK CALLIGRAPHY LINE-

–DRY BRUSH – SOMETHING

–HIGHLIGHT AREA- SEE ME IF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND

–CLEAN UP BOO BOOS!!

  • FILL OUT CRITIQUE AND TAPE TO BACK
  • WORK ON WEEKLY IF YOU GET FINISHED-
 
5th period
  • weekly is due today- open sketchbook to drawing and put date on back of paper- then put on corner of desk upside down- so I can take photo
  • Get piece of paper from the front of the room-
  • Put name on back with date – wait for instructions
  • Studio time will end at 12:10 work on bottles warm and cool- burnishing the black in bottles broken spaces- background tight repeated shapes-
  • Table is diagonal and back –back ground is vertical
 

Thursday 11-8

  • Next weeks weekly is Something you are Thankful for- no turkey hands please
  • Get project, art box, paper towel and water- make sure your name is on the back-
  • Review of exit ticket
  • Make sure all watercolor is finished-
  • Dry brushing- details- demonstrated yesterday
  • Highlights- lifting out color Demo today
  • Re-ink the calligraphy line- don’t just trace it –draw the lines!!
  • Hope to be finished with project Friday—
  • Finished fill out critique and tape to back
5th period
  • Weekly of choice is due tomorrow.
  • Get paper from front stand- get art box, project color pencil
  • Put name on back- wait for assignment-
  • Finish color pencils bottles-
  • Background introduction
 

Wednesday 11-7

  • 4th and 6th weekly is due today- open sketchbook to drawing and put date on back of paper- then put on corner of desk upside down- so I can take photo
  • Get project, paper towel, water and tool box
  • Make sure your have the gradual wash, the intensity wash and 2 color wash- build the project don’t try to power stroke watercolors they don’t like it- layers, layers
  • Background look at examples in back of room and pick one- I can help you if you wish but remember wash– wet to wet –
5th period
  • Get your art box and project-
  • Most of the issues you are having are with the shapes that you drew - they are touching other shapes- they are not touching the edge of the bottle silhouette- please ask me for help if you need it
  • Remember warm colors in one bottle- next bottle cool colors- leave background alone-
  • Remember sharpen pencils as needed- use gradients and mixing 2 colors-
  • Watch placement of colors try not to get the same color to close to each other.

Tuesday 11-6

  • 4th and 6th weekly of choice due tomorrow- if you did not have weekly yesterday bring it to me for late grade
  • I know you are getting tired of this project but please keep up the good work- It is only because we have short time in class
  • Get project, paper towel, water and tool box
  • Make sure your have the gradual wash, the intensity wash and 2 color wash- build the project don’t try to power stroke watercolors they don’t like it- layers, layers
  • Background look at examples in back of room and pick one- I can help you if you wish but remember wash– wet to wet –
  • Tomorrow we will be wrapping it up and hope to be finished by Friday-
  • As soon as we finish this project we will have a quiz on line- the element- you need to study all of the notes from the intro of lines.
  • There will be a practice quiz online in Schoology so make sure you can get in to the app.

  • Gently continue layering watercolors- make sure you have gradual washes, 2 color washes, intensity washes
  • I will demonstrate white paper lift out and drybrush details today
5th period
  • Get art box, sketchbook and bottle project
  • Get paper from front- get out pencil-
  • Check composition and background
  • Color pencil demonstration and intro.
  • Make sure you have color pencils – sharpener and new page in sketchbook.
watercolor review
  • Open sketch book to watercolor page
  • Your project will have to demonstrate the following techniques
  • Washes – flat and gradual
  • Intensity change/ bold and light color usage
  • Color change/going from one color to another
  • White paper highlights – remove color to lighten the areas for highlights no white paint
  • Final dry brush details – all paper must be dry and use small brush to put in those up close details.
