My name is Justin Ingram. I have the privilege of being your English teacher this year. This is my fourth year at CHS, and I am truly excited to be part of this wonderful school. I love the English language and all its potential and quirkiness.
Just to tell you a little bit about myself, I graduated from White Station High School, received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, and then earned my master's degree from the University of Memphis. I have been the swim coach at CHS for 12 years, and am also the head coach of the CHS water polo team.
I am looking forward to our journey together. I want your freshman year to be a growing experience for you in every way possible. Ultimately, I want you to a better reader, writer, and communicator of the most valued language in the world.
“Its very variety, subtlety, and utterly irrational, idiomatic complexity makes it possible to say things in English which simply cannot be said in any other language.”
Robert A. Heinlein, Stranger in a Strange Land
"Viewed freely, the English language is the accretion and growth of every dialect, race, and range of time, and is both the free and compacted composition of all."
"I think one of the best words in the English language is ‘compassion’. I think it holds everything. It holds love, it holds care…and if everybody just did something. We all make a difference."
