Maintenance and Light Repair I students explore career opportunities and requirements of a professional service technician. Content emphasizes beginning transportation service skills and workplace success skills. Students study safety, tools, equipment, shop operations, basic engine fundamentals, and basic technician skills. Credits:  1.0 (Grade level:  10 / Prerequisite:  None)
Dual Enrollment Automotive Maintenance & Light Repair includes learning how to correct suspension geometry and perform four-wheel alignments using the most advanced equipment found in the industry. Steering system design, diagnosis and repair is also covered. Students will also perform chassis related service on today’s most advanced automobiles. The course prepares students for the Steering and Suspension Technician certification test administered by ASE. Credits:  1.0 (Grade Level:  11 / Prerequisite:  Maintenance & Light Repair)
Dual Enrollment Automotive Maintenance & Light Repair II prepares students to diagnose, repair and maintain today’s sophisticated vehicles with a focus on the braking system. Instruction starts with general theory and hydraulic principles and leads to diagnosing and repairing advanced antilock and traction control systems. Students will repair a wide range of vehicle problems in a live shop setting. The course prepares students for ASE certification tests including Brakes. Credits:  1.0 (Grade Level 12 / Prerequisite:  DE Maintenance & Light Repair I)
 
*Special Note:  Second year automotive students must enroll in Dual Enrollment Automotive Maintenance & Light Repair II in the fall and Dual Enrollment Automotive Maintenance & Light Repair III in the spring.
Dual Enrollment Automotive Maintenance & Light Repair III expands upon the skills developed in Dual Enrollment Automotive Maintenance & Light Repair II and offers students an opportunity to further their professional development. Credits:  1.0 (Grade Level:  12 / Prerequisite:  DE Maintenance & Light Repair II)

Dual Enrollment Opportunities
Collierville High School is partnered with Moore Tech for our Dual Enrollment Automotive & Light Maintenance courses. The dual enrollment program allows junior and senior students to participate in college level courses conducted during the school day on the CHS campus. Dual enrollment courses are taught by CHS teachers who are credentialed by the postsecondary institution or by university faculty. Students must meet admission requirements to the relevant postsecondary institution. College credit is awarded upon successful completion of the course.

Industry Certifications
Automotive Service Excellence Certification
The certification is industry recognized and valued and helps students secure an entry-level position as an automotive service technician or tire repairer. The certification sets students up to be successful on professional ASE certification exams required by automotive repair centers.

NC 3 Snap-On Precision Measurement Certification

The Snap-on Precision Measurement Certification is a platform of certification courses providing industry supported education on tool use and theory. When students complete the Snap-on Precision Measurement Instruments Certification, it will enable them to be able to show mastery of foundational knowledge in precision measurement instruments.
