CHS Singers To Participate in the All-Southwest TN Regional Honor Choir

The following CHS singers will be participating in the All-Southwest TN regional honor choirs this Friday, 11/17, from 8am-3pm at Greater Imani Church in Memphis.
Soprano

Annual Scholarships (2016-2017 Academic Year)

In keeping with the continuing educational spirit of Collierville High School, the Collierville High School Alumni Association offers annual scholarships. Selections are made based on different criteria for each scholarship but include merit, financial need, school and community activity and academic success as examples.

Collierville Alumni Association Scholarship

Twenty-one $1000.00 scholarships will be awarded

This scholarship is intended for those students that have a desire to complete college. The successful winners will have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate through school and community activities what Collierville has meant to them.

Requirements:
1. All applicants must have attended Collierville High School for all 4 years. She/he must also have a relative who graduated from CHS.

Other Requirements:
2. Grade point average of 3.0 or higher
3. Copy of Transcript
4. ACT/SAT Score
5. College Acceptance Letter
6. Resume of Activities/Leadership:
7. Supports in-town activities that benefit others. Humanitarian
8. Work experience
9. Letter of recommendation from Community/ Church
10. 300-500 word essay on “The Gift of a good education that you received from the Collierville Schools”
11. List all scholarships you have applied and received.
12. Class Rank must be in the top 100
13. Student Aid Report provided after submitting your FAFSA

Herman Osteen Merit Scholarship

$1000.00 will be awarded

The Herman Osteen Merit Scholarship is given in memory of former Collierville High School principal, Herman Osteen. When he started, the building housed grades 1-12. His wife, Eleanor Osteen, was a teacher there, too. Their two daughters attended Collierville School all 12 years. Recipients are chosen based on criteria of merit, service to school, community involvement and financial need.

Requirements:

1. ACT/SAT score, percentile
2. Grade point average of 2.8 or higher in Verbal, Math, English, Reading, and Science
3. Copy of Transcript
4. College Acceptance letter
5. Resume of School Activities/Leadership:
6. Work experience
7. Letter of recommendation from Community/ Church

Jasper Stark Scholarship

Three $1000.00 scholarships will be awarded

This scholarship was established in 1974 to assist with the furtherance of a higher education to a student at Collierville High School. The recipient must show academic success, leadership, citizenship, and financial need.

The Mr. & Mrs. Virgie Cox Memorial Scholarship is given each year to a student exemplifying academic success and a good work ethic. This scholarship is intended for a person who has been in Collierville schools for 13 years.

Former principal at CHS, the Dr. Setterlund Scholarship is intended for a person that has demonstrated Leadership Skills in High School and in the Community.

CHSAA Technical School Book/Tool Scholarship

This “support” scholarship is intended for a student that has applied to a Tennessee state technical school and been accepted. The Alumni Association recognizes the importance of such trades as an important part of our communities. The scholarship can be applied to books or required tools to be used in the trade class.

Four $750 scholarships will be awarded

Requirements:

The Mary Louise Cox Scholarship is intended for the person that understands and appreciates the Liberal Arts. Miss Cox taught typing/bookkeeping. She knew that each student in their future would need these skills. The recipient of this scholarship should have taken classes and participated in the arts.
