Lady Dragons Soccer Lose In State Semi-Finals

Clarksville's Salera Jordan’s two goals late in the half gave the Lady Wildcats a comfortable lead but that lasted a little more than a minute and a half. Collierville’s Missy Tammi cut the lead in half with a goal with about 7:48 left before the break.

But Clarksville quickly struck back. Lexie Hayes received a pass and sprinted unopposed toward the net. Instead of dribbling the ball closer to the net, Hayes alertly saw Collierville’s goalie step out from her line. Hayes quickly stuck the ball past the goalie from about 20 yards out for a 3-1 lead.

“You always want to keep that momentum once you score that goal,” Collierville coach Brittany Streger said. “So Clarksville getting that goal back certainly hurt. Maybe they took some momentum back but I felt in the second half (Clarksville) didn’t do anything. I’m still proud of how we responded in the second half.”

Trialing 3-1 in the second half, Collierville tried to dictate the tempo. The Lady Dragons kept the pressure on Clarksville’s defense but the Lady Wildcats, who have 16 shutouts in 25 games this season, kept Collierville from getting a shot off for much of the final 40 minutes. The Lady Dragons could only get off two shots on goal in the second half and Clarksville outshot them 15-5 for the game.
