Kirwan speaks three languages and has lived in Malaysia, Singapore, Canada and the United States. He was selected for the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Sciences and Engineering where he most enjoyed the material science course. He has taken 14 AP and Honors courses. He is a member of the highly competitive Math Team, where he serves as president.
In addition, Sean is a member of the USA Swimming club team, Memphis Thunder Aquatic Club as well as a varsity member of the school’s swim team. He has received numerous gold, silver and bronze medals locally and nationally. His days are packed with either 5 a.m. weight training sessions or 6 a.m. swim sessions.
Sean volunteers with the National Honor Society and the Beta Club. He helps run the Halloween Carnival and tutors elementary students in various subjects. He also served as an assistant swim coach for a summer league and enjoyed seeing the young swimmers “destroy their previous times.”
