Information Regarding Governor's School

The Tennessee Governor's Schools provide eleven challenging and high-intensity programs for rising 11th and 12th grade students nominated by high school faculty. Students interested in participating in a Governor's Schools program should obtain the application(s) from a high school administrator, school counselor, or other faculty member. Applications for the 2018 Tennessee Governor’s Schools will be available on this page from Sept. 1 to Dec. 1, 2017. Applications must be postmarked no later than Dec. 1, unless otherwise noted in the application.

HOCO 2017 Thursday Dress Up is Traditional Day

“HOME Traditions” Traditional Day – Students will dress up in CHS’s traditional grade attire for Homecoming. Faculty members are encouraged to represent the grade in which you teach the most students (or whichever one you think is the most fun!). Freshmen: Senior Citizens, Sophomores: Nerds, Juniors: Camouflage, and Seniors: Hippies

HOCO 2017 Banner Competition

Each grade level will make a banner that represents this year’s Homecoming theme: One Town. One School. OUR HOME. The banners will be hung during the pep rallies on Friday and at the football game that night. A representative from Central Office will vote for the best banner. HOCO 2017 Coin Wars Competition

Which class can raise the most money by Thursday? During 5th period, there will be grade level buckets at a table outside the cafeteria. On Thursday, the grade level with the most coins wins! BUT THERE’S A TWIST...if you put dollar bills into rival grade level buckets, you can take away from their total! COINS ADD TO YOUR TOTAL! Over 40 rocks will be hidden all over the CHS campus from Monday through Thursday! When you find one, bring it to room 119 to receive a gift card, free shirt, free car wash, and other great prizes! The grade level that finds the most rocks wins! 1st Place: 100 points 2nd Place: 75 points 3rd Place: 50 points 4th Place: 25 points

CHS HOCO 2017 Grade Level Competition: Who's the King of this Castle?

This year each grade will be competing against each other to see who is the King of this Castle. Each class will be battling to find the greatest number of #CHSRocks, raising money for Go Jim Go and Le Bonheur in the Coin Wars, and creating the best Homecoming banner for this year's theme: One Town. Don't Forget Tomorrow is Pajama Dress Up Day for Homecoming

“Make Yourself at HOME” Pajama Day – Students wear their favorite jammies! It is the same theme for all grades. Faculty members are welcome to participate by wearing pajama bottoms and a dragon t-shirt. Slippers, robes, and other comfy items are encouraged amongst students and faculty alike!
