Agriscience is an introductory laboratory science course that prepares students for biology, subsequent science and agriculture courses, and postsecondary study. This course helps students understand the important role that agricultural science and technology serve in the 21st century. There is a lab fee associated with this course. Credits:  1.0 (Grade Level:  9-10 / Prerequisite:  None)
Principles of Plant Science and Hydroculture explores plant anatomy and physiology, plant reproduction/propagation, plant injuries and their control/integrated pest management; plant nutrition and culture, plant classifications (forage/food), cropping/growing systems, greenhouse growing structures/production techniques, beginning, and promoting an ornamental horticulture business/career, and human relations/personnel management. Credits:  1.0 (Grade Level 10-12)

Dual Enrollment Digital Agronomy will provide students with a foundation in both conventional and regenerative agricultural practices with a focus on 21st-century technology. Students will be exposed to GIS mapping, precision agriculture, the internet of things (IoT), and the latest in crop management and irrigation practices. Credits:  1.0 (Grade Level:  11-12 / Prerequisite:  admission into TCAT Dual Enrollment Program)

Special Note:  Dual Enrollment Credit: Upon successful completion of the course, college credit will be awarded by Tennessee College of Applied Technology.

Dual Enrollment Digital Agronomy II covers a variety of topics including weed and crop science, JD Link (John Deere), pest science, hydroponics, drones, and GPS technology. Credits:  1.0 (Grade Level:  11-12 / Prerequisite:  Dual Enrollment Digital Agronomy)

Special Note:  Dual Enrollment Credit: Upon successful completion of the course, college credit will be awarded by Tennessee College of Applied Technology.

Dual Enrollment Opportunities
Collierville High School is partnered with Tennessee College of Applied Technology for the digital agronomy dual enrollment courses. The dual enrollment program allows junior and senior students to participate in college level courses conducted during the school day on the CHS campus. Dual enrollment courses are taught by CHS teachers who are credentialed by the postsecondary institution or by university faculty. Students must meet admission requirements to the relevant postsecondary institution. College credit is awarded upon successful completion of the course.

BASF Plant Science Certification

Students enrolled in Principles of Plant Science and Horticulture will have the opportunity to complete the BASF Plant Science Certification. The BASF Plant Science Certification verifies individuals have a solid understanding of plant science, including plant processes, nutrition, genetics, and evaluation. The certification exam also assesses major topics in the plant science industry, including water resources and measurement, crop production, fertilizer and pesticide safety, pests and diseases, and scientific classification.

Students enrolled in Principles of Plant Science and Horticulture will have the opportunity to complete the Benz School of Floral Design - Principles of Floral Design Certification. The Principles of Floral Design certification assesses industry-valued and industry-recognized standards, which validates mastery of fundamental artistic elements and principles and their application.
