Health Science Education is an introductory course designed to prepare students to pursue careers in the fields of biotechnology research, therapeutics, health informatics, diagnostics, and support services. Upon completion of this course, a student proficient in Health Science Education will be able to identify careers in these fields, compare the features of healthcare systems, explain the legal and ethical ramifications of the healthcare setting, and begin to perform foundational healthcare skills. Credits:  1.0 (Grade Level:  9-10 / Prerequisite:  None)
Medical Therapeutics is an applied course designed to prepare students to pursue careers in therapeutic and nursing services. Upon completion of this course, a proficient student will be able to identify careers in therapeutics services; assess, monitor, evaluate, and report patient/client health status; and identify the purpose and components of treatments. Credits:  1.0 (Grade Level 9-10 / Prerequisite:  Health Science Education)

Dual Enrollment Anatomy & Physiology I is a challenging course that covers basic anatomical language, histology, as well as the integumentary system, skeletal system, muscular system, and nervous system. Students are required to know both the anatomy of the organs involved within the systems as well as the physiology of the systems. To accomplish this, students will be expected to analyze case studies, complete virtual and physical labs, perform dissections, and to construct models in addition to tests and quizzes. This course requires a commitment of time due to the extensive vocabulary and complicated physiology of the body. This course is not intended for biology majors but is ideal for students entering the medical field. Credits:  1.0 (Grade Level:  11-12 / Prerequisite:  Biology and Chemistry; admission into UofM Dual Enrollment Program)

Special Note:  Upon successful completion of the course, 4 hours of college credit (BIOL 2010) will be awarded by the University of Memphis.

Dual Enrollment Anatomy & Physiology II is a rigorous course that covers the senses of the body, the endocrine system, the cardiovascular system, lymphatic system, respiratory system, digestive system, urinary system, and reproductive systems. Students are expected to apply the anatomical and physiological knowledge from DE Anatomy and Physiology I to the current systems. In addition to assessments, students will analyze in-depth case studies, construct physical models to explain the pathology of disease, and construct instructional videos after dissections. This course requires a commitment of time due to the extensive vocabulary, complicated content, and rapid pace. This course is not intended for biology majors but is ideal for students entering the medical field. Credits:  1.0 (Grade Level:  11-12 / Prerequisite:  Dual Enrollment Anatomy & Physiology I)

Sport & Human Performance Dual Enrollment is an introduction to education and professional practice; history of exercise and sport science, technology, employment opportunities, certifications, and professional organizations. Credits:  1.0 (Grade Level:  11-12 / Prerequisite:  admission into UofM Dual Enrollment Program)

Special Note:  Upon successful completion of the course, 3 hours of college credit (ESMS 2004) will be awarded by the University of Memphis.

Dual Enrollment Nutrition is an introductory study of nutrients; nutrient requirements throughout the life span; applied dietary analysis. Credits:  1.0 (Grade Level:  11-12 / Prerequisite:  admission into UofM Dual Enrollment Program)

Special Note:  This course is an asynchronous, online course. Upon successful completion of the course, 3 hours of college credit (NUTR 2202) will be awarded by the University of Memphis.

Dual Enrollment Medical Terminology introduces students to the foundations of medical language with specific emphasis on terminology and nomenclature for health and sport sciences. Credits:  1.0 (Grade Level:  11-12 / Prerequisite:  admission into UofM Dual Enrollment Program)

Special Note:  This course is an asynchronous, online course. Upon successful completion of the course, 3 hours of college credit (HSME 2000) will be awarded by the University of Memphis.

Dual Enrollment Opportunities
Collierville High School is partnered with University of Memphis for dual enrollment courses in the Sport & Human Performance Program of Study. The dual enrollment program allows junior and senior students to participate in college level courses conducted during the school day on the CHS campus. Dual enrollment courses are taught by CHS teachers who are credentialed by the postsecondary institution or by university faculty. Students must meet admission requirements to the relevant postsecondary institution. College credit is awarded upon successful completion of the course. **Please take note that Dual Enrollment Nutrition and Dual Enrollment Medical Terminology are asynchronous, online courses not taught by CHS teachers.
