Shannon Colwick named Traveler's Teacher of the Year for Tennessee

For 25 years, the NEA Foundation has celebrated public school educators nationwide with the Travelers Insurance Awards for Teaching Excellence. Recognizing one (1) outstanding teacher from each state for “excellence in the classroom, dedication to family and community engagement, a commitment to equity and diversity, and advocacy for the teaching profession,” the awards are formally presented each February in Washington, DC. Tennessee’s recipient of the 2026 Travelers Award for Teaching Excellence is Shannon Colwick, Spanish teacher at Collierville High School and President of the Collierville Education Association. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!
