  • Agriscience is an introductory laboratory science course that prepares students for biology, subsequent science and agriculture courses, and postsecondary study. This course helps students understand the important role that agricultural science and technology serve in the 21st century. There is a lab fee associated with this course.

    • Credits:  1.0 (Grade Level:  9-10 / Prerequisite:  None)
  • Small Animal Science Technologies is an intermediate course in animal science and care for students interested in learning more about becoming a veterinarian, vet tech, vet assistant, or pursuing a variety of scientific, health, or agriculture professions. This course covers anatomy and physiological systems of different groups of small animals, as well as careers, leadership, and history of the industry.

    • Credits:  1.0 (Grade Level:  10-11 / Prerequisite:  Agriscience)
  • Dual Enrollment Vet & Animal Science is designed to improve essential worker characteristics of students to prepare them for entrance into the workforce. Training includes ethics and compliance with relevant laws, policies, and guidelines, related to animal behavior and welfare. The course provides general and in-depth information pertaining to species-specific biology and behavior, animal facility equipment and operations, animal health procedures, animal research policies, an understanding of occupational hygiene, workplace hazards, occupational illnesses, environmental issues, and accident prevention measures in the workplace.

    • Credits:  1.0 (Grade Level:  11-12 / Prerequisite:  admission into UT Martin Dual Enrollment Program)

    Special Note:  Upon successful completion of the course, 3 hours of college credit (ANSC 110) will be awarded by the University of Tennessee at Martin.

  • Dual Enrollment Vet & Animal Science II is a continuation of learning the basic anatomy and physiology of common animal species, as well as medical terminology and mathematic skills used in the animal science field. Students are given the opportunity to attend clinical locations to demonstrate skills learned in the program.

    • Credits:  1.0 (Grade Level:  11-12 / Prerequisite:  Dual Enrollment Vet & Animal Science I)

    Special Note:  Upon successful completion of the course, 3 hours of college credit (ANSC 230) will be awarded by the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Dual Enrollment Opportunities

Collierville High School is partnered with University of Tennessee at Martin for the Vet & Animal Science dual enrollment courses. The dual enrollment program allows junior and senior students to participate in college level courses conducted during the school day on the CHS campus. Dual enrollment courses are taught by CHS teachers who are credentialed by the postsecondary institution or by university faculty. Students must meet admission requirements to the relevant postsecondary institution. College credit is awarded upon successful completion of the course.
