Important Traffic and Schedule Update for the Start of the School Year

Posted Date: 8/02/25 (6:15 PM)

Collierville Schools has been notified by the Town of Collierville that, in addition to the ongoing closure of Shelby Drive between Collierville High School and Highway 72, Sycamore Road north of Shelby Drive will also remain closed on Thursday, August 7, and Friday, August 8.

This additional road closure is expected to significantly impact traffic flow in the area. In response, Collierville High School will implement a staggered start schedule to help reduce congestion and ensure a smooth, safe transition into the new school year for students, staff, and families.

Hybrid Schedule for August 7 and 8

To accommodate these changes, Collierville High School will operate on a hybrid schedule for the first two days of school:

  • Thursday, August 7:
Juniors and Seniors will attend school in person.
Freshmen and Sophomores will participate in asynchronous virtual learning from home.
  • Friday, August 8:
Freshmen and Sophomores will attend school in person.
Juniors and Seniors will participate in asynchronous virtual learning from home.
  • Transition Hall:
Welcome to attend school in person on both days — August 7 and 8.

Additional Information

  • Asynchronous virtual learning means students will complete their assignments independently from home.
  • Bus transportation will be available both days for students who are scheduled to attend in person.
  • Information regarding asynchronous learning expectations and laptop deployment will be shared via email, ParentSquare, social media, and posted on the Collierville High School website.

➡️ Please Note: Students with scheduled extracurricular practices are expected to attend practices on both days, regardless of their in-person attendance schedule.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we begin the school year. We appreciate your flexibility and cooperation as we work together to ensure a safe and successful start for all.
